Exotic Cattery – Serengeti

$Varies

Description

The Serengeti is a new breed of domestic cat bred to resemble the African Serval. The Serengeti is NOT an exotic/domestic hybrid, which means that there are no special permits required to own them. The Serengeti is produced by breeding Oriental Shorthairs and Bengals. The ideal Serengeti will be a long lanky cat, with long legs, extremely large upright ears, long neck and a very upright stance. The accepted colors for Serengetis are brown spotted, silver spotted, and black/smoke spotted. Occasionally there will be a snow spotted, these are still registered as Serengetis, but are a non-permissible variant, and are not eligible to show at this time.
Serengetis are extremely athletic, have lots of energy, are very affectionate, and some can be a bit talkative!
Serengetis are currently recognized as a Preliminary New Breed with TICA. Serengetis may be shown in TICA shows in the Preliminary New Breed class, but are not yet eligible for Championship Status. The next step for the Serengeti as a breed will be to achieve Advanced New Breed status, and then Championship status. Each advancement of the breed requires a certain number of breeders to be working with the breed, a certain number of litters registered each year, and a certain number of unique cats to be shown each year. If you are interested in showing and/or breeding Serengetis feel free to contact us.
